What Does A Web Multimedia Company Look For In Voice Talent? PART 2
January 8, 2009 by: Tracy PattinIn yesterday’s Q&A blog post with Jeff White from White Wolf Group Multimedia Production, I asked him about his company and what they look for in voice talent. Today he talks about the current trends and future for the voice over industry and the web.

TJP: In terms of the Web, what are the opportunities for voice talent?
JW: VO talent have a tremendous opportunity to utilize the web for finding work. Samples can be uploaded and readily available to anyone in the world who has a computer. As little as 15 years ago, this wasn’t the case. Up and
down speeds precluded a vast majority from being able to have access to
large databases of searchable talent. This just isn’t the case anymore. I
carry a bunch of samples on my PDA in case I need to have access to it when
I’m not near my laptop or office.
TJP: What about the current trends for voice over work?
JW: Professional content for the web is quickly becoming the norm, rather than
the rare oddity. Everyone has a website now, and having professional
content, which includes well-produced music, voice, video, and animation is
the best way to stand out. Internet video started out as armature content
being plastered onto social sites and being dubbed “viral” because
something funny happened in the clip and it was forwarded to a bunch of
people. Now companies are spending more and more money to have their web
flag raised higher than the competitions. Gone are the days of static text
pages. If you don’t have blogs, podcasts, videos, and reasons to keep
coming back, then you aren’t being shopped on the internet.
