The Voice Over Demo and Scripts
March 28, 2008 by: Tracy PattinThis week has had the theme of voice over marketing thanks to Voicebank.net, Amber Dahlin’s Q&A with me Wednesday and Thursday. She just emailed me that one of the most common questions (one she was asked again yesterday from a voice actor in Atlanta) “Where do I find scripts for my demo?” Great question and a fairly easy answer.
When I’m working on a new demo, I get most of my copy from two places:
-Previous auditions
-Magazine Copy
I recommend saving your copy from your auditions. With so many emailed, it’s easy to keep a file. You can even categorize each one for easy retrieval. And believe it or not, magazine copy is great because you can edit the copy and make it your own. Beware that the magazine copy is written to be read, so you have to tweak it resulting in a more customized voice over script.
Voice talent! How do you find copy? Let me know by leaving your comments!
