Super (Mostly Male)Voice Talent at Superbowl XLlll

February 2, 2009 by: Tracy Pattin

It was must see TV. I barely knew who was playing. Being voice talent, it’s all about the commercials. (I always mute the game and listen to the commercials) They’re known to be some of Madison Avenue’s best work and that includes the voice talent. As usual, the Bud commercials were entertaining, so was the NBC rollout of their shows and the Hyundai car commercial was slick, as they always are. And of course, most were voiced by men. I guess that’s to be expected. Football and all. However, I did count two in the first quarter voiced by women-Ronald McDonald House and Avon. Lucky girls! It’s no surprise that male talent outnumber female talent, but women are the primary spenders in the household, so why aren’t a few more commercials directed at them with female voices?

I just saw the GoDaddy commercial. Lots of “enhanced” women…Oh well. Boys will be boys.

By the way, I un-muted the last 2 minutes of the game. I admit, I got a little hooked. (But the commercials got me to listen, then watch)
