“Scientists Figure Out The Formula For The Perfect Speaking Voice”
June 11, 2008 by: Tracy PattinI just found this article. It’s from the Switched website. Apparently a scientist and a sound engineer think they’ve discovered the perfect speaking voice. Should we voice actors then strive for this kind of perfection? Or simply stay true to ourselves and remember as Don LaFontaine says, It’s all about honesty.
Oh, and on another note, these voices are British. So, perhaps we should add a little accent to our American voices? At any rate, just a little food for thought, or words to be heard? You decide. Would love your comments on this!

“What kind of voice and speaking tone inspires the most trust and confidence in listeners?
An English linguist and a sound engineer say they have the answer. It’s a combination of traits that includes tone, speed, frequency, words per minute and intonation.
The two have simulated the ideal speaking voices for both men and women, and say that real life actors Jeremy Irons and Dame Judy Dench come closest to the ideal when they talk.”
