It’s NOT Just About The Voice!

In Bob Souer’s blog post (Tuesday, Jan. 6th) “How important is a good voice for voiceover work? he writes about the fact that a good voice is not as crucial as you might think. Here’s an excerpt:

” In spite of what you may think, successful voice acting careers are not built on the voice. In other words, it’s not about how nice your voice is or how many compliments you’ve received about your voice. Success in voice acting has everything to do with how well you can deliver the story, the message, that your clients hire you to deliver.”

So many think that if you’ve got the pipes you’re a shoo-in. The truth is you’ve got to have so much more than a voice. A casting director once said, “voiceover is like starting a small business.” So just think about what’s required in that. Oh, and as Bob says, you have to really really really want it. Thanks Bob, for your valuable info.
