July 20, 2009 by: Tracy Pattin

In tomorrow’s podcast (part 2-Tuesday July 21st) commercial copywriter Colleen Wainwright says there are many factors that go into the decision making process for choosing voice talent. “There are technical things like which voice fits best with the music and if their voice complements the visuals for a TV spot.”

So what can we do in the audition to have a better shot? “Stay within the time frame of the spot. If you can make the read sound leisurely while you are staying within that 15 or 30 seconds, you’ll stand out. If you want, do a longer second take to give us a sense of what it would sound like if there was more time or less copy.”
