Don La Fontaine Voice Over Lab at the SAG Foundation

July 11, 2010 by:

voicenet blogOver 300 voice-over and entertainment industry professionals and celebrities showed up for the Friday, June 25 invitation-only opening of the highly-anticipated SAG Foundation Don LaFontaine Voice-Over Lab, located at the SAG Foundation Actors Center in L.A.’s Museum Square.

Cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a steady stream of good cheer flowed through a crowd of prominent voice-over artists including Randy Thomas, Paul Pape, George Del Hoyo and Don LaFontaine Legacy Award winner Joe Cipriano. After the Lab’s grand opening ribbon was cut by Nita Whitaker LaFontaine and SAG Foundation Board President JoBeth Williams, words of rousing welcome and appreciation were shared by members of the Lab’s Advisory Board in the Actors Center Screening Room.

Many of the top voice-over talents on hand for the event were personally mentored by the late “King of Voice-Overs” Don LaFontaine, whose generosity and professional reputation inspired the construction of the Lab. The Don LaFontaine Voice-Over Lab’s classroom and dual-recording booth capabilities are designed to facilitate production as well as instruction of voice-over work, making it the first resource center of its kind.

Voicebank is proud to be one of the contributing sponsors to this wonderful project.  Congratulations to everyone involved.

Will VO classes (for beginners) be offered? How can I find out more information? Thanks very much! Sincerely, Jim Leedom

  2. Hi Jim.

Give the SAG Foundation a call at 323 549-6708 and ask to talk to someone about the DLF Lab and upcoming VO classes and seminars. They’re working on a schedule and class itinerary now for the fall and winter.

  3. Jaime Perry says:

Interested in attending DLF Lab and was wondering if in this class we would be able to make a voice over reel and if there a fee ? And how many students are there to a class ?

    Thank you,

    Jaime Perry

  4. Hi Jaime.

Give Michael Woodley at the SAG Foundation a call at 323 549-6708 and ask him about the DLF Lab and upcoming VO classes and seminars. I’m not sure if they’ll be offering the ability to make a demo along with a class but Michael will be able to help/guide you.
