Do You Like The Sound Of Your Voice? Is It A Must For VO Success?
January 22, 2009 by: Tracy PattinOkay, if you’re in the world of voice over it seems obvious that you would like the sound of your own voice. But, what I’ve found is that there are voice over artists who don’t like their own sound!
Remember the first time you heard your voice? It was weird, right? But most likely after hearing audition after audition, being in class after class and getting those coveted voiceover gigs, you’re probably used it it by now. And, hopefully you really like (or love?) the sound of your voice!
So, what if you DON’T like your voice? How do you put it out there over and over again? How do you do to cope with this obstacle?
Looking forward to hearing from you…

Hey hey!
I shall chime in here.
I have never liked the sound of my voice. What’s in my head is not what comes through the speakers.
What I’ve learned in (gasp) 27 years in this business is, I don’t have to like my voice. The buyers do. So, thank God I’m not a buyer!!!
Thanks for your comment Bob! It’s amazing that someone who has done so well in voiceover doesn’t like the sound of their voice. There’s hope for those out there who feel the same about their own voices.
