There are many approaches to success in the voice over industry. Every teacher, school, coach and VO expert has their “secret” to a lucrative voice over career. I’ve found that eventually you find what works for you. No secret there. That’s why it’s important to try lots of teachers, and lots of techniques.

In tomorrow’s brand new Voice Registry podcast series “The Voice Over Doctor ” teacher (and VO Doc extraordinaire) Bill Holmes says “there’s really no work involved unless you complicate it and make it a lot of work.” He’s a big proponent of relaxing, doing a little substitution (he explains as he works with student Bill Miltenberger in part 1 and part 2) and even wearing Hawaiian shirts!

The Doc then goes into his “P.A.V.E. technique” Pace, Attitude, Volume and Energy. So there is a little work involved, but once you use his tips, you’ll be able to read advertising copy with that un-announcery sound that is constantly requested in audition specs.
